China International Consumer Electronics Show Kicks Off in Qingdao, Spotlighting Emerging Trends in AI and Smart Health and Elderly Care

Consumer ElectronicsArtificial Intelligence

On September 4, the 2026 China International Consumer Electronics Show officially kicked off at the Qingdao International Exhibition Center (Hongdao Hall). As the only national-level, specialized exhibition currently held in Shandong Province, this year's expo is hosted by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and co-organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government. Themed "AI Leading the Way, Smart Future Unveiled," the expo targets the cutting edge and future trends of the global consumer electronics industry. Covering an exhibition area of 60,000 square meters, it gathers around 300 well-known domestic and international brands from 12 countries and regions. It comprehensively showcases the latest products and cutting-edge technologies in smart homes, smart health and elderly care, artificial intelligence, and smart mobility, striving to build an industrial cooperation platform featuring full-chain synergy and multi-dimensional empowerment.

Deep Alignment with the City's Industrial Layout: Emerging and Future Industries Included for the First Time

As a major advanced manufacturing base in China, Qingdao is accelerating the construction of a "10+1" innovative industrial system, identifying next-generation information technology and artificial intelligence as two pilot industries for breakthrough development. This year's expo deeply aligns with this urban industrial layout. While consolidating its advantageous exhibition zones such as smart homes, it has, for the first time, incorporated emerging and future industries into its exhibition framework, synchronizing the expo's content with the city's industrial direction.

In terms of the AI industrial chain, the expo has introduced renowned sci-tech enterprises such as Unitree Robotics, DJI, Lingban Technology, Zhuge Lingxi, iFLYTEK, and AISpeech. These cover cutting-edge tracks including embodied AI robots, voice foundation models, and intelligent interaction, linking innovation resources through the industrial chain and significantly enhancing the expo's professionalism and system integration capabilities. For the smart home industrial chain, leading enterprises such as Haier, Hisense, Aucma, Gree, Xiaomi, and Canon have gathered, covering upstream and downstream links such as smart terminal hardware and whole-home connectivity solutions, clearly presenting the evolutionary path from single-product intelligence to scenario-based interconnection. In the smart health and elderly care industrial chain, enterprises including Haier Healthcare, HIT Tianyu, and Haiwei Kangyuan are assembled, concentrating on displaying new products integrating medical care and eldercare, such as intelligent rehabilitation equipment and digital elderly care solutions.

Real-World Application of Age-Friendly Technology: Smart Health and Eldercare Zone Highlights the "China Health Bay" Vision

Currently, Qingdao is accelerating the development of the "China Health Bay," and the smart health and elderly care zone serves as a comprehensive showcase for this strategy. In the Haier Healthcare exhibition area, age-friendly technology products embedded in daily living scenarios are fully displayed, ranging from exoskeletons that assist walking and aid rehabilitation, to robots capable of massage and companionship, and healthcare suites that can predict family health needs.

Stepping into the age-friendly bedroom, an arm-cuff blood pressure monitor on the entryway table allows for instant measurement and one-click reading, providing immediate alerts for the risks of atrial fibrillation and arrhythmia, with data synchronously pushed to children's mobile phones. In the living room, the massage robot automatically identifies body shapes, adapting shoulder and waist massage intensity to body curves. Standing in front of the health camera on the wall for 90 seconds completes a seamless screening of heart rate, blood oxygen, respiration rate, and fatigue status. By the window, the Haier Tianyue Smart Bed features rocking sleep, 5D sleep-assist massage, and smart snoring prevention, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep. Beside the bed is Haier's all-in-one electric mobility wheelchair equipped with a brain-computer interface; serving as both a wheelchair and a walking aid, it allows the user to control forward movement, turning, or stopping simply by blinking while wearing a head-mounted device. Outdoors, an AI mobility exoskeleton robot with a full-carbon fiber, lightweight, and tough body accompanies users as they easily navigate gentle slopes on walking paths. These are no longer just concepts in a showroom, but have become a real-life corner of the home in the "China Health Bay, Haier Healthcare Exhibition Area."

Over 20 Concurrent Events Held to Deepen International Trade and Procurement Matchmaking

During the expo, over 20 high-profile events are held concurrently, covering multiple dimensions such as technical exchange, scenario implementation, and competitive experiences. These include heavyweight exchange activities such as the Symposium on Large Models and Embodied Intelligence Industry Innovation, the Innovation and Development Forum on AI Reshaping the New Ecosystem of Consumer Electronics, the Investment and Financing Roadshow, and the Matchmaking for Industrial Chain Integration and Consolidation of Shandong Province's Electronic Information Industry. Additionally, there are three high-level procurement matchmaking events: the Special Session for European and American Chambers of Commerce, the Sino-Korean Enterprise Economic and Trade Cooperation Matchmaking Conference, and the Overseas Procurement Matchmaking Special Session. Furthermore, interactive experiences such as the "Smart Assistant and OpenClaw Practical Implementation Salon" and the "Delta Esports Tournament" are also highly engaging and spectacular.

In terms of international cooperation, the expo's organizing committee has invited the Jeju Innovation and Growth Center in South Korea to organize a delegation to visit the expo and sign a strategic cooperation agreement. It further deepens cooperation with overseas institutions stationed in China, such as the European and American Chambers of Commerce and Korea Qishenglong. It also organizes targeted professional buyers from Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative to attend for negotiations, building an efficient trade bridge for global enterprises.

Upgraded Market-Oriented Operations: Online and Offline Integration Broadens Promotion Channels

As the market-oriented operator of the expo, Qingdao Guoxin Group has simultaneously launched an online supply and demand matchmaking platform. By profiling the supply and demand of enterprises and professional visitors in advance, it achieves precise pre-show matching and efficient on-site matchmaking, enabling highly efficient exchange of supply and demand information. This helps facilitate the implementation and transformation of trade outcomes, striving to comprehensively upgrade the expo from an "exhibition window" to a "procurement platform."

Meanwhile, the Qingdao Municipal Commerce Bureau has deepened its coordination with the platform, organizing key local home appliance brands such as Haier, Hisense, and Aucma to conduct "livestreamed exhibition tours." Relying on the traffic ecosystems of WeChat Channels and Douyin livestreaming, it fully showcases the advantages of Qingdao's home appliance industry, helping local brands broaden online promotion channels and drive online product sales, thereby creating a precise, efficient, and widely influential industry event.
