On September 4, the 23rd China International Consumer Electronics Expo officially opened at the Qingdao International Convention and Exhibition Center (Hongdao Hall). Themed "Leading with AI, Shaping the Future," the expo has attracted around 300 renowned enterprises from 12 countries and regions, with a total exhibition area of 60,000 square meters. As Shandong Province's only national-level, specialized exhibition, the expo is hosted by the Shandong Provincial People's Government and co-organized by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products, the Chinese Institute of Electronics, and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government. It focuses comprehensively on cutting-edge fields such as smart homes, smart healthcare and elderly care, artificial intelligence, and smart mobility, aiming to build an industrial cooperation platform featuring full-chain synergy and multi-dimensional empowerment.

Aligning with Industrial Layout, Three Major Industrial Chains Drive Growth

Qingdao is accelerating the construction of its "10+1" innovative industrial system, positioning next-generation information technology and artificial intelligence as its two pioneering industries. Guided by an industrial chain mindset, this year's expo has strategically planned its exhibition zones and, for the first time, incorporated emerging and future industries into the exhibition framework. In the AI industrial chain, tech innovators such as Unitree Robotics, DJI, Rokid, Zhuge Lingxi, iFLYTEK, and AISpeech have gathered, covering frontier tracks like embodied intelligent robots, large speech models, and smart interaction. The smart home industrial chain has assembled leading brands including Haier, Hisense, Aucma, Gree, Xiaomi, and Canon, showcasing the evolution from standalone smart products to scenario-based interconnection. Meanwhile, the smart healthcare and elderly care industrial chain brings together enterprises like Haier Health, HIT Tianyu, and Haiweikangyuan, highlighting new products that integrate medical and elderly care.

Major New Product Launches, AI and Robotics Dazzle Attendees

At the expo, numerous enterprises debuted cutting-edge new products. Aucma launched the G608 Pro from its AI Smart Eye range hood series. Leveraging AI Smart Eye technology, it simultaneously monitors the dual-zone heat sources of the stove, anticipates oil fumes in advance, and automatically adjusts the fan speed, while also featuring a dry-boiling buzzer alarm. Its newly upgraded AI smart bath water heater supports precise voice-controlled temperature adjustment and entertainment interaction. Qingdao Aoxi Intelligent Technology showcased five special-purpose robots, including a dual-swing-arm reconnaissance and firefighting robot capable of climbing stairs and overcoming obstacles, a smart mowing robot that ensures tangle-free weeding, and a snow-sweeping robot designed to replace manual labor, all of which attracted significant attention from buyers.

The Tesla booth also drew massive crowds. The Cybertruck, resembling an "alien combat vehicle," along with the world's best-selling models, Model Y and Model 3, captivated visitors. The humanoid robot Tesla Bot on display shares the same AI neural network architecture as the Model series vehicles. Reportedly, Tesla Bot is expected to begin mass production by the end of 2026, with a plan to produce one million units annually by 2030, at which point the production cost per unit will drop to between $20,000 and $25,000. "It's so cool. Tesla's booth is always full of surprises!" marveled an on-site visitor.

Spotlight on Smart Health and Elderly Care, Bringing the "China Health Bay" to Life

Anchored by Qingdao's strategic goal of building the "China Health Bay" and advancing towards becoming a "Renowned City of Mountain and Sea Wellness, Vibrant and Healthy Bay Area," the smart healthcare and elderly care exhibition zone emerged as a major highlight. Haier Health's display area recreated real-life, senior-friendly technology scenarios for home use: the world's first fully autonomous home cooking robot precisely dispenses seasonings to cook delicious shrimp scrambled eggs; an arm-cuff blood pressure monitor allows instant measurement with a simple reach, syncing data directly to children's smartphones; a massage robot automatically identifies body types and adapts shoulder and waist pressure accordingly; a smart health lens completes non-invasive screening of heart rate and blood oxygen in just 90 seconds; the Tianyue smart bed features 5D sleep-assist massage and intelligent snore-stopping functions; and a Haier all-in-one electric mobility wheelchair equipped with a brain-computer interface enables users to control forward movement simply by blinking. Additionally, AI sports exoskeleton robots with fully carbon fiber, lightweight yet tough frames were also on full display, comprehensively showcasing the charm of senior-friendly technology.

Over 20 Concurrent Events to Facilitate Trade Cooperation and Deliver Results

The expo will run until September 6, featuring more than 20 high-profile events. In terms of technological exchange, events include the Exchange Conference on Intelligent Innovation in Large Models and Embodied Industries, the Innovation and Development Exchange on AI Reconstructing the New Ecosystem of Consumer Electronics, specialized investment and financing roadshows, and the Shandong Province Electronic Information Industry Chain Integration and Consolidation Matchmaking. For procurement matchmaking, three targeted events—the American and European Chamber of Commerce Special Session, the Sino-Korean Enterprise Economic and Trade Cooperation Matchmaking Conference, and the Overseas Procurement Matchmaking Special Session—were organized to invite professional buyers from Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative to negotiate on-site.

In addition, the expo organizing committee invited the Jeju Innovation and Growth Center of South Korea to form a delegation to visit the expo and sign a strategic cooperation agreement, deepening collaboration with overseas institutions in China such as the American and European Chamber of Commerce and Korea Qishenglong. The Qingdao Municipal Bureau of Commerce organized local key home appliance brands to conduct "livestreamed expo tours," leveraging platforms like WeChat Channels and Douyin to expand online channels. As the market-oriented operator, Qingdao Guoxin Group simultaneously launched an online supply and demand matchmaking platform, achieving precise pre-show matching and efficient in-show docking, thereby driving the expo's comprehensive upgrade from a "display window" to a "procurement platform."
