Connection and Innovation for a Better Future- CEFCO 2023 Gaining Momentum to Set Sail
I am honored to inform you that the 18th China Expo Forum for International Cooperation (CEFCO 2023), the annual convention of the exhibition industry, will be held from April 24 to 25, 2023. With the theme of "Connection and Innovation for a Better Future", this forum is scheduled to take place in Shaoxing, a renowned city of picturesque scenery and historical relics, and a gathering place of celebrities. As the first forum held in the post-epidemic period, we will invite domestic and foreign guests to participate in the forum to create a genuinely international industry event. The forum has set up a variety of topics and case displays. At the scheduled time, elites in the exhibition industry at home and abroad will discuss the latest development and explore the future of the industry and share valuable experiences.

CEFCO Forum is co-sponsored by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE), the Society of Independent Show Organizers (SISO) and International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA). So far, it has been successfully held for 17 sessions, with more than 1,000 famous individuals worldwide participating in each session. It is also one of the most influential exhibition forums in the world. CEFCO has always upheld the concept of "Openness, Cooperation and unity for Win-win results" and actively built a platform for exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and foreign convention and exhibition industries, which has become an indispensable annual event for global convention and exhibition elites.
Brief Introduction of Host City
Situated in the south flank of the Yangtze River Delta and in the north-central part of Zhejiang Province, Shaoxing joins Hangzhou to the west, Ningbo to the east, and Hangzhou Bay to the north. With an area of 8,279 square kilometers and a resident population of 5.27 million, it is known as “a land of beautiful mountains and rivers, a land of historical relics, and a gathering place of celebrities”, and also hailed as a water town, a wine town, a bridge town, a town of calligraphy, a town of opera, and a town of celebrities. It has won multiple honorary titles such as the first Chinese Historical and Cultural City, National Civilized City, China Excellent Tourist City, China Model City of Environmental Protection, National Sanitary City, and the United Nations Habitat Award.
With a long history of more than 2,500 years and profound cultural connotation, Shaoxing is recognized as a “museum without walls”. It boasts a total of 32 major historical and cultural site protected at the national level, and more than 20 national intangible cultural heritage protection projects.
Shaoxing is a hometown of numerous celebrities. Thanks to its long history and cultural importance, it has cultivated a large number of famous people, which is praised as “Celebrity Township of Jianhu Lake and Yuewang Terrace” by Comrade Mao Zedong. So far, Shaoxing has maintained the former residences of famous people including Wang Yangming (Chinese idealist Neo-Confucian philosopher, official, educationist, calligraphist and general during the Ming dynasty), Wang Xizhi (Chinese calligrapher traditionally referred to as the Sage of Calligraphy), Lu You (prominent poet of China’s Southern Song Dynasty), Cai Yuanpei (Chinese educator, president of Peking University, and founder of the Academia Sinica), Lu Xun (leading figure of modern Chinese literature) and Zhou Enlai (the first Premier of the People’s Republic of China).
As a typical water town with beautiful sceneries and pleasant eco-environment, Shaoxing is acclaimed as “the place that is picturesque scenery” and “crisscrossed by waterways, with bridges connecting streets and lanes”. It has more than 8,000 rivers of all sizes and 14 lakes over 1,000 mu, making itself one of the richest cities of its kind in China in terms of water resources. Moreover, it is a national forest city with four national forest parks and also a famous tourist city with a 5A-level scenic spot of Lu Xun’s Hometown (Shen Garden). In recent years, a number of major tourist projects such as Oriental Landscape, Zhejiang International Circuit, Jinghu Lake Tourism Complex and Nautical Flower Fields of Hangzhou Bay have been built successively.
Open, inclusive and dynamic, Shaoxing has a sound industrial system. Its traditional industries represented by textile industry have formed a complete industrial chain, thus giving it a far greater say and pricing power. Its emerging industries, represented by advanced equipment manufacturing, biomedicine, energy conservation and environmental protection, are thriving. With an active market, sound business environment and a high degree of openness, it has established sister city or friendly exchange relationship with 46 cities around the world.
