China's IC Output Reaches 279.8 Billion Units in H1 2026, Averaging Over 1.5 Billion Chips Per Day

Data released by the State Council Information Office shows that China's total integrated circuit output by enterprises above designated size reached 279.8 billion units in the first half of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 23.1%. With an average of over 1.5 billion chips produced daily, China's production capacity leads the world, demonstrating the continuous enhancement and expansion of domestic semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.

This data fully reflects China's remarkable achievements in semiconductor capacity building. Monthly data indicates that IC output maintained strong growth momentum through June, with multiple newly built production lines achieving capacity ramp-up, advancing on both mature and advanced process nodes.

Analysts point out that the sustained rapid growth is driven by multiple factors, including accelerated expansion of domestic wafer fabs, rising equipment localization rates, and robust downstream demand. Particularly driven by strong demand from new energy vehicles, AI computing, and IoT sectors, China's integrated circuit industry is currently in a historic period of development opportunity.
